        北京大学是继承深厚传统文化的先锋，在改造项目设计中如何体现“守正和创新”的北大精神，使之成为北大的人文景观新地标是我们的挑战。

交换思想

        创造一个激发自主学习的空间氛围，激发讨论式学习，是本案的核心目标。

空间的无限可能

        空间功能的无限可能性是重要设计思路。“树下”交流区可以用来自习、表演、喝咖啡、演讲；“梯田”可以用来聊天、看书、演出；“E教室”可以用来网络课程学习、观看“每周一讲”。“玻璃房”可以用来开会、直播。

美与艺术的体验

        希望营造美与艺术的体验，艺术与设计的融合Artecture也是重要的设计实践。三楼的学习空间，从立面到天花都是玻璃幕墙，夏天阳光直射，又闷又晒。我们设计了名为“智能“的艺术装置，既是遮阳的措施，又是晚上照明的灯具，还是一件原创艺术品。

Under the Tree – Collaborative Learning Center of Peking University

        Peking University has been a pioneer in inheriting the rich traditional culture. It is a challenge for us to embody the spirit of “Sticking to Convention and Encouraging Innovation” of Peking University and to make it a new landmark of man-made landscape in her campus.

Exchange of Thoughts

        The principle goal of this project is to create an ambience that stimulates automatic study and discussion-based learning.

Infinite Possibilities of Space

        Tree” interaction area can be used for self-study, performance show, drinking coffee, giving speech; the “Terraced Field” can be used for chatting, reading, show; “E Classroom” can be used for on-line courses, watch “Weekly Lecture”; the “Glass House” can be used for meeting and live broadcasting.

The Experience of Beauty and Art

        It is also essential to our design practice to create the experience of beauty and art, and to integrate art and design (Artecture). Both the façade and ceiling of the space for study on the third floor are covered by glass curtain, making it hot and stuffy in summer when sunlight straightly shoots in. Therefore we designed an art installation named “Wisdom”, which is not only an original art piece but also a sun-screening device and lighting in the evening.
